Because Baseball Founder Shares Story of Building Bridges

Collegiate Alum Kemp Gouldin '98 met with two groups of students interested in social entrepreneurship and social change today - the Middle School Changemakers Club and the International Emerging Leaders: Asia Capstone class for seniors - to share his vision for a charitable organization he established in Egypt several years ago.
Through Because Baseball (www.becausebaseball.org), Mr. Gouldin and his team are teaching the sport to citizens of all ages in Cairo and using the game to build bridges among families, communities and cultures. He also talked with students about working throughout the Middle East and developing software technology that translates Arabic.

Mr. Gouldin is also sponsoring the month-long visit to Collegiate of one of his Because Baseball coaches, Waleed Abo-Elnour, who serves as the P.E. Lead Teacher at The New Generation International Schools in Cairo. During his month-long stay, Mr. Abo-Elnour will assist with coaching Collegiate's varsity baseball team, explore all aspects of our athletic, physical education and coaching programs, and visit classrooms as his schedule permits.
