Kate Parthemos

30 years

Whatever you need done, at any hour and no matter if it is on campus or miles away, Kate will take care of it. I have known Kate since starting in my full-time role in 2007, but she has a history that goes further back than I can recall.

There is no doubt Kate has been the same helpful person since she was a student here at Collegiate, but I doubt her energy or warmth was any different before I got to know her.

She has served many roles here such as the receptionist for the Lower School, running the Cougar Shop and being the point person for the Arts in the Hershey Center. All of these roles have something in common. She is the person you want people to meet first when they come through your door on this campus. Kate embodies the spirit of Collegiate making sure that all feel welcome and all have everything they need to get to their next destination or engagement.

There is no doubt that what Kate has set as an example has become the model for those who follow here at Collegiate, and it is my sincere hope that when she comes back to visit the campus she will see how we all greet new and familiar faces with the same warmth and enthusiasm as she always has.

Kate, we will miss you, but we will also celebrate your well-deserved retirement happily. May you and Stel experience many more fun road trips to UVA and enjoy your visits with family and friends as you leave here. You know the door is always open and there is a seat for you in Oates Theater any time you would like one.
