Lead Middle School Guidance Counselor, Beginning 2018-2019 Academic Year

Collegiate School seeks an energetic and committed Lead Middle School Guidance Counselor to work closely with the Middle School faculty and administrators to coordinate a 5 - 8 grade program that helps students develop positive tools for social interaction, decision-making and healthy living.  This is a full-time, 10 1/2-month, benefited faculty position.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Work closely with students, faculty and families to provide individual counseling support, as needed
  • Coordinate Middle School Advisory Program
  • Prepare and implement guidance lessons and appropriate small guidance groups
  • Work closely with individual teachers, grade level coordinators, and Student Support Team to help identify and address specific student needs
    • Provide assistance for students as they transition from 4th to 5th grade and 8th to 9th grade
    • Work as an integral member of the JK-12 counseling team
    • Coordinate parent education groups
    • Communicate with outside professionals
    • Develop resources and relationships in the outside community
    • Serve on committees and engage in professional group work, as necessary
    • Participate in all required School events
    • Assume additional duties as required
  • Promote and facilitate the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
Qualities of a successful candidate will include:

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
  • Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures and rules included in the Faculty/Staff Handbook
  • A Master’s degree, preferably in counselor education
