Art Gallery Features Work of Lower School Teacher
A new gallery in Richmond, North 1st Street Studio Gallery at 223 N. 1st St., is opening with a show, Attend, featuring the mixed media work of Lower School art teacher Holly Smith on Friday, Dec. 2 from 5-9 p.m.
Mrs. Smith's works -- some new, some made over the last couple of years -- started with attention to a place, a path or a moment, and were held in memory with the 17 syllables of a haiku. In response to the spare verse, a variety of media were painted, printed, stitched and manipulated to recall the distilled impression.
