Spring Honors Society Inductees Announced
Fourteen Collegiate School seniors were inducted into the Cum Laude Society this morning during Upper School Assembly in Oates Theater. They were joined by the 13 students inducted last fall, and on Sunday evening, all of the inductees and their families enjoyed a special dinner in their honor.
The Cum Laude Society recognizes academic excellence and citizenship. In today’s assembly, Collegiate alum Dr. Lauren Siff ‘02, a urogynecologist with VCU Health Obstetrics and Gynecology, who was a Cum Laude member as a student, spoke to students about the five key skills she gained in her 13 years as a Cougar: How to connect, how to communicate, how to compromise, how to challenge yourself and how to create opportunities.
“These five skills are the keys to excellence, and I am so thankful that I learned them at Collegiate,” Dr. Siff said. “I congratulate you on your Cum Laude induction and look forward to seeing your accomplishments in future issues of the Spark.”
Junior Katie Lansing performed a piano piece by Chopin before Upper School science teacher Rebecca Hottman called all of the honorees forward for recognition. The Collegiate Chorus performed America the Beautiful to conclude the ceremony.
