Supporting Collegiate
Why Give?
Giving is Caring

As Alex Smith, Vice President-Development, has said, “Giving is caring…apparently there is a whole lot of caring going on at Collegiate.” Over many decades, thousands of alumni, parents and friends have generously donated dollars as well as their gifts of time and enthusiasm to help create and sustain a most unique and thriving college preparatory environment at Collegiate School. In the 1960’s, Collegiate received its first endowment gift of $10,000 and also began an Annual Giving program. The first capital campaign was initiated in the '50s on the new Mooreland Road campus and raised $1 million dollars to build the new Girls and Boys Schools, cafeteria, library and gym. Since then, Collegiate has engaged in four more campaigns totaling nearly $50 million dollars. Collegiate is grateful for the continued and loyal support of our constituents and is fortunate to be able to offer greater opportunities to our students and faculty because of your dedication.

There are five major areas of support for Collegiate philanthropy:

  • Annual Giving
  • Capital Giving
  • Planned Giving
  • Special Events
  • Gifts-in-Kind
…And contributing to Collegiate takes a form of “evolution” so to speak. The ideal supporter consistently supports the Annual Fund, increasing his/her gift each year. If financial circumstances and emotional commitment peak at the right time, the donor will consider a major gift to the school in his/her lifetime to support the construction of new facilities, create an endowed scholarship or teaching fund, or support an academic or extracurricular program. Finally, Collegiate’s model contributor would make a planned gift via a bequest, trust, life income gift or an alternative option.

Thank you for your support of Collegiate School at any level – it truly makes a difference in the lives of every student.
