Upper School Head and Assistant Head of School Named Today

Following a national search, Head of School Steve Hickman announced today that Patrick Loach has been appointed Head of Upper School. In addition, our Interim Upper School Head, J. P. Watson, will remain at Collegiate as Assistant Head of School. Both will assume their new roles on July 1, 2016.
Mr. Loach, currently Upper School Head at the Kinkaid School in Houston, TX, has been hailed by peers there for his student-focused leadership with a positive and transformational style. He returns to Collegiate where he spent 16 years serving in a variety of roles, including Interim Head of Upper School, Assistant Head of Upper School, Director of Technology and as a member of the Upper School's history department. He holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo and both an M.S. and M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. We look forward to welcoming Mr. Loach's wife Emily and son Charlie back to Collegiate as well.

Mr. Watson, who joined us as Interim Upper School Head at the beginning of this school year, will assist Mr. Hickman and other top school administrators implementing strategic JK-12 initiatives. Said Mr. Hickman in his announcement, "Mr. Watson is uniquely qualified to assume the duties of Assistant Head of School, filling an open position on our senior administrative team. His new responsibilities will center on several important JK-12 priorities, and he will work closely with me and other members of the senior administrative team to bring them to fruition. In the next few months, the Board of Trustees will finalize the School’s next strategic plan, and Mr. Watson and I will work together to firm up the specific, cross-divisional initiatives he will spearhead."

“With the addition of these two educators to our senior leadership team, I’m confident that our students will continue to receive extraordinary and thoughtful guidance, and access to outstanding learning opportunities that have long prepared them for success,” said Mr. Hickman. “We are excited to begin a second century of stewarding our students toward their purpose with these leaders on board.“

Congratulations to Mr. Loach and Mr. Watson on their new appointments.
